wow... this woman has way too much money and time. When I think of all the people struggling to buy what they, ( or even myself) need, this goes beyond mental!

I'd say that's the sign of a serious mental problem. Ask her what she feels she's missing from her life. I bet it's not that junk.

Did anyone think about the fact that she could just be lonely, and that shopping provides more than just buying; it also involves conversation and interacting with others.

Heh, this was taken/stolen from forums.somethingawful.com - and you reposted it with out any of the accompanying text.
The guy got kicked out of home when his mum discovered that he took pics of their house and posted them online.

you need to have your mother see a professional. This compulsion has been fatal, peoples possesions have toppled on to them and the have suffocated. But do not try to take it away from her by force, this will only create a negitive reenforcement and will not help. she needs help. she is whats called a "hoarder'

This is showing a serious mental issue. I think your mother would really benefit from seeing a therapist or psychiatrist.

This lady is ending a cycle in her life's progresion by finding out that nothing outside of herself can fill the hole inside herself, at least not for very long. It's a worthwhile endeaver and when she stays aware, she will find her own inner joy and love in the NOW. With patience the awearness grows warmer and beginnning to fill the seeming hole.

If you think she is bad you should check out a horror film me and my friends made at my Dad's junkyard. Imagine what you just saw but on a scale of five acres and in the desert. My Dad was a mechanic and now he is too old to take care of the junkyard.
Just google "The Great American Snuff Film"

She needs help. My mother had the same problem. Its only a matter of time before it becomes garbage and unsanitary conditions in the house.

The thing that pisses me of most about this- is the fact that this woman is housing animals in her "house". WTF???
People have every right to choose how they want to live thier lives, but to drag defenseless creatures into her house of shit- jeapordizing their health, etc. (And believe me there is a major health issue here- take a look at the table full of glass balls covered in a thick gray dust for example. Not only that, there is no room to move around physically, how could that be good for anyones health?
To the idiot who took the pictures and thought it was funny that their "mother" likes to buy stuff- you oughta be slapped!!!! Aren't you embarressed that you aren't a decent daughter or son to want to improve the quality of your mothers life? hell- in the least if you have some compassion, or a brain cell perhaps you would find those animals new homes- let that bird go- let it fly free in cleaan, air. (It might collapse just from breathing in real air from the outside!!!!
The people who are the biggest idiots here are the ones that will sit around and find this amusing.
