R. Shaw:

To all who view these pictures, these heroes served for YOU! Don't pity them. Honor them for having the courage to serve their country in circumstances others would RUN from. These people will always have my respect and will be held in high regard. Thank you, and God bless all of you who serve.

tim:

FUCK YOU! no really fuck you. liberal fucking faggots! burn in hell. how dare you. we all know the rick when we sign up! anyone who bitches about having to go and fight after they voluntarily sign up is a fucking pussy and deserves to die

Pat:

I am so proud of you all. Thank you for your service and sacrifice. Because of you, and many others like you. I can express my gratitude with out fear of some towel-headed terrorist sawing my neck in two with a kitchen knife. You all: past, present, and future.

Kevin B.:

In reply to tiny tim for you to make a comment like that you ARE THE REAL PUSSY
because you chose not to serve your country in the armed forces but you sure as the hell are enjoying the freedom in which they and millions of others have fought for and died for so if you DON'T LIKE IT THEN PACK YOUR BAGS AND GET THE FUCK OUT OF UNITED STATES!!!!!!!! FOREVER GREATFUL TO THE MEN AND WOMEN OF THE ARMED FORCES! KEVIN in Conover NC

Richard:

I don't think you realize the personal sacrifice these people have done for you. Yes they volunteered, but that was something you couldn't do. They are far more courageous than you or I. They deserve your respect and your undying knowledge that they did something that you couldn't do. You couldn't lose a limb for the betterment of this country. I don't agree with why we are there true. But I, like I am sure you, agreed to go over there in the beginning . WE made a wrong choice. Not you, not I, not the president, we as an united American public choose to elect the people that we put in charge of our armed forces. We are now stuck. We can't leave, and if you spent time finding out why, you wouldn't be so ignorant to blame them for signing up. Need I remind you that they signed up when you wouldn't. Every person is at some point confronted by the military for an enlistment. You said no. That proves your distaste to the military. You weren't willing to put your life on the line to save our own philosophy. The above mentioned all were. I honor those that have risked their lives for to do something I couldn't. I will always remember.

Richard

Don't wanna get shot? Don't go to fucking war.

wikum:

I'm not sure they deserve to die for following the crazed orders of a despotic leader, though.

Or do they?

Joel:

Evidence that the USA is becoming a police state.

Keith:

@tim:

Who says these people are bitching? Its a picture of reality, one every American should all face because we elected people who played a role in this.

viffer:

OMG FU?? you silly coward. you have your freedoms because of the amazing people who make a fantastic sacrafice for the general population, they are not earning millions for their effort, they are generally the lower social economic sector of your society. Wait for involuntary sign up and then see how smug you are you biggot.

ayo:

tim, wtf are you so bent out of shape about? just throwing out there F you's and liberal bashings because there's a post of wounded soliders? man, you're crazy.

Korales:

So this is the best way to serve your country ? Fighting a war you don't know what it is about ? Getting shipped to a country which you have no fucking idea where it is ? Hunting down "terrorists"? What about the other side of this war ? Just cause the people can't even afford internet it doesn't mean they don't die or get crippled for life. How am i supposed to know that each and every man or woman on this page did not kill a lot of people ? I admire the courage and the commitment of all of those who decide to defend their homelands security and their own families. I won't feel sorry for them though.

Roger:

tim, you're a moron.

What's the reason for posting these pictures?

To remind us how bad war is?

As a tribute to the sacrafices these men and women made for our country?

To get people riled up and demand we bring them home because (GASP!) our soldiers are getting hurt?

I don't understand.

louc4r:

too bad they were injured for nothing...

this war was fought to make the elites even richer

terrorism was just a cover story

Matthew:

Kill a man, and you are an assassin. Kill millions of men, and you are a conqueror. Kill everyone, and you are a god.
~ Jean Rostand

David:

Please credit the photographer.

Anonymous:

"What's the reason for posting these pictures?"

To know truth?

To know that war is not nice?

Some would have you believe war is fought on a small TV screen miles away from the fighting.

To remind you what sending people to war will result in. Every time.

So, moral of the story. You had better be sure War is your only option.

gene:

It's really too bed people get upset about seeing these pictures. This is reality of war. It's brutal, violent and undiscriminating.

Every politician should see these pictures and photos of thousands of Iraq people who died during American occupation before voting for continuation of the war.

I wonder how many people died on the average each month in Iraq before the democracy invaded their country.

Taylor:

I think that the point of posting this was to remind everyone that war isn't glorious, that people make massive sacrifices that will change their lives forever, and all for the sake of their country and it's population. It's people like you, tim - people that want us to go to war, and support the idea and then chicken out - who are contributing the most to the complete and utter ruination of the ozone layer and the enivironment. Personally, I can't honor the sacrifices these people have made enough, especially knowing that I could never do it. But there's the difference. I acknoledge that I'm not brave enough to sacrifice life and limb for my country, whereas you can't, and try to cover that up by insulting the people who can. In school you were probably one of the 'tough' kids, who stayed in a gang and beat up younger kids.

Brian:

@ Kevin:

Examine your own reaction to these images, then reconsider your question. As you do so, recall that these men and women are among the lucky, the select group of wounded who didn't die in the blast, who got prompt medical attention, and who receive the benefits of American technological prowess. With all their scars, these are the lucky ones.

And I'm curious, Kevin. What is your reaction? Outrage? Sympathy? Respect? Are you honest enough to allow some of all those?

I have my doubts. I know my own reaction, and that's all that matters, to me. I don't need to know what the photographer was trying to document, or what the poster was trying to arouse. That's immaterial. Their purpose is effective only in getting the photos to your eyeballs. What goes on inside your head is your own lookout.

Johnny:

In the immortal words of Bill Hicks. "Anyone dumb enough to want to be in the army, should be let in."

So typical of Americans to call anyone wounded in action a "hero"...

Wow... I really wish you get what's coming to you!

Glock ain't shit:

Go USA Go Giddee-up! Who voted for Bush in the first place get serious. Follow the leader right?

What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans, and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or the holy name of liberty and democracy?

Every war when it comes, or before it comes, is represented not as a war but as an act of self-defense against a homicidal maniac.

Gorukha:

I must agree with some of the meaner people who posted here.
These folks by a large number still support the Bush administration, by that I mean people in the military. How does getting wounded in an OFFENSIVE war with a country that had nothing to do with 9/11 make you a hero ? If anything it makes you a fool. These people aren't in a bubble, they know how the war is going, they are allowed acess to the internet. They don't have the balls to spend time in the stockade and stand up to this out of control military action then they deserve what is coming to them.

dobro:

...and for what?

snorkeeeee:

No, I don't pity these folks, they chose to go to war, regardless of reason. But who the heck on here thinks you have to go to war to "defend freedom"? I defend it every day by exercising my right to freedom of speech! Those who think soldiers are gods...well, then I guess you think their commander in chief is one as well. And how many of you war lovers ever went off to one? I thought so, just as with that commander in chief god you love so much. Bet you all can't wait for the draft! So, to all who are brainwashed enough to think you have to go to war to defend freedom--I guarantee it when the chips are down you will try to take away mine! Heaven help you if you do!

Hey, they signed up for this because they were tricked, if they knew about the brain washing, genocide and Haliburton, they'd have passed.

Can you imagine trading in your legs for a fucking piece of fabric with a metal coin...

Lemmy C:

Despite the ravings of the wingnut contingent here, I think the real tragedy is that these veterans weren't protecting the freedom and security of their nation when they were injured. Instead, they were pursuing a wrong-headed occupation of a foreign country that never had the power to seriously disrupt the US, in the name of a neo-conservative agenda of American dominance.

The Roman Legions made "noble" sacrifices as well.

Also, there's nothing as stupid as the "love it or leave it" line. One can dislike America and not particularly like any other place any more. Many of us think that all nation-states are a problem.

Keith:

Argument: If you join the military and get hurt while doing it, to bad, you asked for it.

My Response:
As someone who is currently in the US Army and has done one rotation in Iraq I will say that not all who join do so because we agree with the current administration or because we are simple-minded, violence prone morons. Some of us join because we simply wish to serve the country, we wish to swear an oath to uphold the constitution and want the discipline that a military life can offer. Yes, we know the risks of going to war, but that doesn't mean that when those risks turn into reality we should be callously tossed aside because "hey, we knew the risks!" Each event is a tragedy that should not ever happen, and should be treated with that respect. The people may not all be heroes (though some may). But they did suffer terribly, and it should be acknowledged that the American people elected the person who put us there and enabled those injuries to happen. No more, no less.

Finally, also keep in mind that many people who fought and have been injured in Iraq joined before we went to war there.

Keith

Soldiers are Machines ...:

They volunteered ... you grunts don't get it ... a grunt should never be allowed to lead anything other than himself and his fellows (the ones right beside him) into battle. Your to stupid to see the big picture and hence you sign up for infantry, sniper, udt etc ... You are supposed to have the best weapons, the best training, the most bodies and most importantly be the scariest force on earth... the moment you actually go into the battle the game is over you become flesh and blood and the enemy has to fight back.. even with sticks and stones and garage remote controls. Those idiots in washington forgot that the role of a good army is to scare the fuck out of everyone else ... and it is just one tool in the many tools the diplomats can use in their bag of tools to keep the world peaceful. Otherwise there are just endless idiots blowing up endless idiots (and we smart people getting caught in the cross fire - if i was not worried about the cross-fire and my privately schooled kids i would just go oh kids don't mind those people their just to stupid to see the big picture - but the crossfire aspect makes me concerned) ... it is all great that you are willing to die and let your buddies die for the cause ... next time vote for a guy/gal who is good at smoozing people and getting what we all want by diplomacy ... you bone heads fell for the son of our secret police ya go army/marines/Christian militia you fucking retards -- we are more than happy to pay for your guns and bombs and a nice fat retirement with full health care but your job is to be scary not to actually fight ... we don't need to fight terrorists to beat them

Hey all,

Its was a sacrifice what these people when though, but they did not do it for ME, or the American people. They did it for each other and their military brothers/sisters in arms on the ground there.

Its survival for them, and not to "protect" us here. If anything, this whole conflict was not MY or my neighbor's, or my local town commissioners, state representative's, etc...choice. This decision to start this war originated in the Oval Office of the USA, and had nothing to do with what I NEEDED!!

Everyone crying for national sacrifice and American heroism, these people did it for themselves and protection/sacrifice for each other.

Bush "pushed the button," and now its a survival for them over there!

Mola:

Hi,
Bush ist a Criminell

tikiloungelizard:

Can you imagine if, instead of sending soldiers overseas, we kept them at home? Can you imagine if an enemy had to conquer our country house by house, each house heavily armed? There would be no one around to surrender, so they'd have no incentive to invade. Can you imagine if the leaders themselves had to lead us into war if they wanted it? Can you imagine if we had leaders that actually paid attention to good intelligence ("Bin Laden determined to strike in U.S., may use planes") instead of making up stories about another country? Iraq (and most wars we've known) have had nothing to do with American security and everything to do with the desire of a few to conquer the resources of others. As General Smedley said, "War is a Racket".

Aman:

WHEN THE RICH WAGE WAR.. ITS THE POOR WHO DIE!!!

farticus:

Like it says in the Bible, "Those who live by the sword, die by the sword."

Legless:

Not long ago I was visiting relatives in the U.S. I was using my wheelchair to get around. I encountered some people who were quite willing to assume I was injured due to service in the armed forces - some were sympathetic, others complimentary and others were downright prejudical and nasty towards me, much like some of the above posts. My state is not the result of an injury sustained in the service of my country but is the result of an injury I sustained as a firefighter in the course of my job. I too knew all the risks. That I could die, be horribly injured, or disfigured. Ironically I was struck by a drunk driver as I attended the scene of another motor vehicle collision and was in the process of extricating injured peple from a car.

So when I look at those pictures I think it's just plain tragic. Tragic that all of these young people are scarred for life. But even more I think that it is tragic that "enlightened" and "educated" people are quick to judge others. Tragic that individuals are so full of hate that they resort to name calling and character assasination using the anonymity of the internet to do so. Tragic that compassion and sympathy and indeed simple respect for one another is literally flamed by people who think they are holier, better and "smarter" than another because they have a different set of ideals, values and convictions.

I guess you can lump me in with the "stupid" people, because despite what they have been through they are not afraid to show who and what they are. They eventually will accept and work to get past their handicaps no matter where they acquired them - the rest of you I am not so sure you will even acknowledge your own impairments. That's tragic.

Tim:

Who cares, they wanted to invade an innocent peoples country so bad, they get what they disurb. Ill save my tears for the innocent people these murderers killed.

nonplus:

Join the army if you are a fool.
On a purely aesthetic level - are these the sorts of mutants you want to see on your block when they return from an illegal and immoral war? The physical mutilation is obviously only a part of the disfiguration of these brave but foolish people. You reap what you sow. Violence breeds death and destruction. Change your ways and good things can happen.

Kungfublood:

It's not the pictures that bother me, however I would like to read what these people have to say for themselves rather than what some idiot psycho projecting their own deluded points of view without knowing anything about the injured people. What I find disgusting is the title "weird and funny stuff"

me:

We are here and jading these photos and making random comments about it.,

Do we even realize why these people sign up?
To make a better life for their family and kids,
war is not a hobby, no one want to be disable for the rest of her/his life
They go to war for money….
Why Bush is not sending his daughters to war?

JD:

The soldiers were injuried or died so that Bush's friends could fill their pockets with trillions of $$$.
Some people are so blinded by their arrogance and fake patriotism!
Or maybe they are just professional trolls from the new intel department that Bush setup to control information on the net (the only place still genuine since all mainstream media are just propaganda channels)...
Personaly, I would be pissed...

Bolinche:

This is what occurs when you are serving THE RICHS and defensing THEIR MONEY. I don't see their sons fighting in wars, I only see poor people making war and going to kill other poor people in a far country which they don't know.

United States people are great, brave and big-heart people, but you are cheated by your politics and by the interests of the high-class people. Open your eyes, stop making war.

katty:

WHEN THE RICH WAGE WAR.. ITS THE POOR WHO DIE!!!

Thats is sou true!!!

they are not fighting for you!!!
they are fighting for goverments..for rich people!!!

Matt:

Anyone who criticized Tim is the idiot. HE IS IN THE ARMY.

Did you read what he wrote? Jackass liberal pussies. I second that one. "Get out of my country if you don't like it..." Whiners. "Because I'm scared of you, I'm just like the people who invented terrorism and support Bush..." That's what you are really saying. Go outside, read a book, rethink your lives.

for those who believe these people signed up for the military just to help the country, put aside your ignorance and look at the ethnicities of the soldiers, the military is the only option for many in order to enhance their lives, these people deserve your highest respect

Umm..where are the pictures of the Iraqis who were sacrificed as bio-degradable fuel of this war?

Oh, now I remember..most of them don't even have a head/torso to show..because they are either badly burnt (worse than those shown here) or blown away.

Saddam was a huge ahole...but at least he hated the terminology you blissfully call "Religious Terrorism". You can't just "knock someone up" (like a country in the middle east)forcefully and then claim that your hurt your genitalia in the process. Well, this is what you are getting now...IED-a-la-creme. This is not a revenge of God (or as us pesky Muslims call him 'Allah'), this is what happens when folks (other than Richard Dawkins) try to play God my misjudging what is right or wrong.

JemmX:

Yeah..., that is happens when defend the interest or contribute to make war in name of United States, hipocresy a lot.

I prefer the jail to fight for the US.

But, I hate the US politics bussisness.

Yeah liberals don't either. They'd rather fix all their problems with a pen, the government's gun, and my money. Industrial Revolution, they should have made a plan to starve less but still hang in there until all the businesses in town couldn't get any more scabs. Nope, fucking liberals had to force businesses to do business the way them Commies wanted. They yelled and threatened bosses rather than call their reverend. They beat up scabs. Anyone can throw a rock into a window. Besides, that's for anarchists to do LMAO. Stop being so lazy, greedy, and proud, breast suckling mofos.

As for the soldiers, I feel extremely honored that they would take the word "Terrorist" and run out there and protect me. So what if they blew the BeAllah out of thousands of innocent women and children? Any soldier that didn't, I applaud thee and I wish you weren't defending Communism.
